GOODE [DFM], Ray Marston
Sgt Goode was a gunner in a Sunderland Flying boat. He and his crew were awarded the DFM for displaying great skill, courage and fortitude in fighting off 8 Junkers 88 when engaged in a battle in the Bay of Biscay. The aircraft returned to England safely. Later Goode crewed in a Short Sunderland DV968 of No.461 Sqd. The plane was shot down by German fighters and crashed into the Bay of Biscay. Eleven crew were killed including Goode.
